Multi-Function Protection Relay

The Woodward MFR 1 Series is a family of industrial grade protective relays that offer multiple protective features in a single package. Using a digital processor to measure true RMS values enables a high degree of measuring accuracy regardless of harmonics, transients or disturbing pulses.
The Woodward MFR 11 model is a generator or mains protection unit packaged into one compact device. Typical applications are generators and switchgear equipment that require independent protection architecture. Different packages offer additional functionality.

MFR 15

Multi-Function Protection Relay & Control

The Woodward MFR 1 Series is a family of industrial grade protective relays that offer multiple protective features in a single package. Using a digital processor to measure true RMS values enables a high degree of measuring accuracy regardless of harmonics, transients or disturbing pulses.
The Woodward MFR 15 model includes a synchronizer and a load and power factor controller via discrete outputs to combine protection and control into one unit. Different packages offer additional functionality.

MFR 31

Multi Function Relay, Mains & Generator Protection & Control

Woodward's MFR 3 Multi function Relay incorporates functions and features for multiple application with up to 14 generators, each with a maximum individual rating of 16MW. Whether isolated or in parallel with the utility this device was designed for generators and switchgear equipment that require independent protection.
The MFR 3 digitally measures true RMS values ensuring measurement accuracy - maintaining integrity against harmonics, transients or power surges. Front panel push-buttons allow direct control of power circuit breakers, setpoint values, and configuration of the unit.
The Woodward MFR 3 is available for one (MFR 31) or two (MFR 32) circuit breakers.
For utility parallel applications the combined mains and generator breaker protection offer a very compact solution. In addition to protection the Woodward MFR 3 offers frequency, voltage, real power and re-active power control allowing load/var sharing.

MFR 2

Multi Function Relay, Mains & Generator Protection & Control

Based on micro-controller technology, Woodward's MFR 2 Multi Function Relay incorporates functions and features for multiple applications (e.g. gensets, hydropower, etc.) in isolated or parallel utility operation. The Woodward MFR 2 is designed for generators and switchgear equipment that require independent protection.
The ability for the MFR 2 to quickly decouple from the mains when working in parallel with the mains gives complete generator protection for frequency, voltage, and real and re-active power control allowing load/var sharing between as many as eight units.
