Woodward Mechanical Governors for Steam Turbines |
TG611, TG Governor with Overspeed Protection
Directly replaces TG Governors
API 611 Compliant Overspeed Testing
Woodward TG611 governors are mechanical-hydraulic speed-droop governors for controlling small steam turbines. These governors control turbine speed by sensing turbine rotor speed via their input drive shaft, comparing this speed to an internal speed setpoint, then using a rotary output terminal shaft connected to the turbine’s governor valve to control turbine inlet steam flow. This self-contained governor utilizes an integrated drive-shaft-driven ballhead assembly to sense turbine speed, and an integrated drive-shaft-driven oil pump to create the necessary output force to move/control the turbine’s governor valve.

TG Governor
The Woodward TG Governors are self-contained mechanical-hydraulic speed droop governors for use on small steam turbines where isochronous (constant speed) operation is not required. |
|
PG
Woodward PG dial and lever governors feature lever or dial speed adjustment, a spring-driven, oil-damped ballhead which filters frequency torsional vibrations, an optional speed adjusting motor, electric, oil, water, or pneumatic shutdown, optional droop, and have a wide speed range available. |
|
PG-PL
The Woodward PG-PL governor features isochronous control, 12 to 58 Ft-Lb. output capacities, remote power servos, pneumatic or manual speed setting, rotary or linear output, a self-contained sump, and is pressure compensated. |

UG-5.7, -8, & -10
The Woodward UG governor is a mechanical-hydraulic governor for controlling diesel, gas, or dual fuel engines, or steam turbines. The governor provides extremely reliable speed control throughout the drive speed and temperature range.
Proven design has been industry standard for nearly 50 years. World-wide acceptance provides easy service in most engine and governor shops. The UG governor drive configuration is the world-wide standard for many engine manufacturers. |

UG-40 Governor
Woodward UG-40 governors are used for speed or load control of larger dual fuel, diesel, or gas engines or steam turbines with governor drive speeds of 350 to 1050 or 550 to 1300 rpm.
Governors with lever speed setting are primarily used for propulsion engines. Dial or motor speed setting is primarily used for power-generation installations.
