505 + TM25 upgrade
Project Overview
GE 10 MW steam generator analog control system and generator controls were upgraded because the old equipment was obsolete, resulting in high maintenance costs. Replacement parts and knowledgeable service personnel were scarce and the customer needed improved system performance to maximize unit efficiency.
A Woodward 505 Digital Control with a Woodward hydraulic TM25 actuator allow automatic turbine starts and controls the turbine speed by monitoring two magnetic pick-ups (MPU’s). The Woodward EGCP-3 provides synchronizing, loading, and unloading of the generator. The EGCP-3 and separate Watt transducer are used with the 505 to measure generator output and provide a kilowatt load signal to the speed control. The Local Operator Panel HMI augments the system by displaying information that is available to the controls, providing full graphics of the turbine, data logging and trending of key system parameters.
