Retrofit of Woodward 527 controls providing primary governing and fuel control for dual fuel engines.

Project Overview
The system comprises 5 independent engine controls. This control is used in a triple-fuel Root Blower system where the engine can be operated on Diesel, Natural Gas, Digester Gas or any combination of these 3 fuels. The 527 control was nearing its life cycle and spares were no longer available, putting the plant at risk. Maintenance of the 527 control modules was high and did not allow for optimum performance. The Atlas-SC controls the speed of the engine by modulating the diesel and gas actuators and the charge air pressure by modulating the waste gate valve when the engine is running on gas fuel. Major Alarms will shut the engine down. Minor alarms will prevent transfer to gas or transfer from gas to diesel if already running on gas. Full operator control, data display and alarm handling is provided at each engine by an HMI. |
