Project Overview
Complete retrofit of a hospital emergency backup power
engine/ generator set, and the emergency backup set used to export power to the utility, providing additional revenue to the hospital. The customer wanted to integrate the four principal devices (PLC, governor, air/fuel ratio control) plus the speed switch into one common control.
This engine control, alarm and monitoring system was designed to control a Fairbanks-Morse 8 cylinder engine running on natural gas. Engine control functions were spread among the PLC, governor and air/fuel ratio control, the speed switch and vibration meter.
