Preventative Maintenance
Of Your Woodward Governor
GCS recommends preventative maintenance for your Woodward governor/actuator
and offers scheduled maintenance
programs.
By being a proactive consumer, you can save time, money and maintain
the useful life of your governor/actuator system, not to mention,
avoid unnecessary down time. GCS recommends the following preventative
maintenance:
- Change governor/actuator oil between 3,000 and 5,000 running
hours.
- Ensure the use of proper oil per Woodward
manual 25071E.
- Perform complete overhaul and calibration between 20,000 and
25,000 running hours.
In addition to the above recommendations, GCS also suggests that
certain auxiliary equipment be repaired at the same time as the
governor/actuator. The repair of auxiliary equipment is recommended
given that existing oil may contaminate rebuilt or newly installed
governor/actuator and reduce life expectancy. The following are
GCS suggested auxiliary equipment repairs:
- Woodward Start Booster Servo (shares common oil circuit of
the Woodward governor/actuator)
- Woodward Oil Cooler (shares common oil circuit of governor/actuator)
- Woodward Remote Servo’s (shares common oil circuit of
governor/actuator)
