Woodward Governors for Gas Engines

The Woodward SG governor hydraulic speed droop type governor is designed for use on small diesel, gas, or gasoline engines where isochronous control is not required. The design of the speed droop governor is such that the governor operates at a slower speed as engine load increases. It is through this characteristic that stability of the system is achieved and division of load between paralleled units is made possible.

PSG
The Woodward PSG governor is a pressure compensated, speed-droop or isochronous governor for controlling the speed of small diesel, gas, and gasoline engines, or small steam or industrial gas turbines. The governor is used to control engines or turbines driving alternators, dc generators, pumps, or compressors.

UG8-PL
The Woodward UG8-PL is a compensated, isochronous governor designed for use with diesel, gas, and dual-fuel engines or steam and industrial gas turbines driving pumps, compressors, alternators, generators, or other accessories. It has an integral oil reservoir and pump, and does not require an external oil supply for its operation.

UG MAS (milliamp speed setting)
The Woodward UG MAS (UG with milliamp speed setting) controls the speed or power of prime movers used for propulsion, locomotives, pumps, and compressors. The Woodward UG MAS speed-setting governor is a generic module which can be used on most engines with a UG drive. The Woodward UG MAS consists of a standard UG Dial governor equipped with a special cover assembly and a separate electronic driver box. The Woodward UG MAS is a pressure compensated, hydraulic governor designed to accept a standard 4-20 mA electrical current signal to set the speed of the governor. An internal pump, relief valve, and accumulator system maintain the governor operating pressure. A self-contained sump stores the oil and so reduces the possibility of contamination from outside sources.

Woodward PG dial and lever governors feature lever or dial speed adjustment, a spring-driven, oil-damped ballhead which filters frequency torsional vibrations, an optional speed adjusting motor, electric, oil, water, or pneumatic shutdown, optional droop, and have a wide speed range available.

PG-PL
The Woodward PG-PL is a pressure compensated, isochronous control type governor widely used for controlling speed for all types of diesel or gas engines and steam turbines, driving pumps and compressors. It produces output in the 12 to 58 ft-lb range.

3161
The Woodward 3161 governor is designed for speed control of diesel engines, gas engines, or steam turbines. The variety of standard features and available options makes the governor ideal for use in a wide variety of applications which require work capacity of up to 18 ft lbs. Applications include off-highway vehicles, industrial, marine, generator set, compressor, or pump drives. A Woodward 3161 operation can be isochronous for accurate constant speed or frequency control or droop for load sharing. The amount of droop may be changed internally or with an optional external lever.

EG-3P
The Woodward EG-3P (proportional) and EG-3PC (proportional with compensation) actuators are designed for use on diesel, gas, and gasoline engines, or turbines, and are particularly well suited for use in control systems requiring a proportional mechanical output of a proportional electrical input.

EGB
The Woodward EGB-10P, 13P, or 35P Governor/Actuator is used with Woodward analog or digital electronic controls that provide a proportional 20-160 mA signal to control dual fuel, diesel, and gasoline engines and gas and steam turbines driving electrical or mechanical loads. The governor/actuator provides 10, 13, or 35 ft-lbs (13.5, 17.62, or 47.46 J) work capacity to position fuel racks or linkage.

EPG
The Woodward 512/524 and 1712/1724 EPGs are three-component governing systems for 12 or 24 Vdc operation. All Woodward EPG systems include an actuator, an electronic speed control, and magnetic pickup. Both isochronous and droop controls are available. The Woodward EPG is designed for precise speed control of diesel, gas, or gasoline engines, and gas turbines. The governor is especially suited to prime movers without a mechanical drive or hydraulic oil supply for the governor, and which have low-mass, low-friction fuel linkages.

TG-13 Governors for Ajax Engines
Simplicity and low cost are distinct advantages of the Woodward TG-13 Governors. The governors operate with speed droop for stability of control and allow the engines to run unattended. An internal oil pump, driven by the governor's drive shaft, transports oil from the self-contained sump. Internal pressure is maintained by a relief valve accumulator system. The unit can use the same type of lube oil as the engine. A sight glass provides ease in checking oil level. The built-in relief valve accumulator helps maintain full oil pressure in the governor hydraulic system during transient conditions. The two governor models are identical except for the base and the drive shaft length. Both models are easily installed, require no modifications to engine mounting pad, and generally use existing linkage. Once installed, they require minimal maintenance. Two types of speed-setting adjustments are available: Screw speed setting is standard, and pneumatic speed setting is optional.
