QUICK-LID® Catalytic Converter for Hospital
  
- North Florida Hospital, CAT 3412C diesel, 750kW standby generator located in an enclosed container very close proximity to the hospital.
- There were serious concerns that the emissions could pose a health problem for the hospital.
- Solution:
GCS supplied a QUICK-LID® Catalytic Converter. The unit was too cumbersome [250lbs.] to install in the small area inside the container. A decision was made to install the converter on the outside exhaust of the container. The unit is removing CO by 90% or more and the exhaust smoke appears much cleaner.

Three-Way Catalysts for Gas Compressor
- Natural gas compressor station, powered by Waukesha engines.
- The challenge was to meet emission targets for NOx, CO and non-methane hydrocarbons, for a variety of compressor engines with different exhaust configurations.

Solution:
The catalyst housings were supplied in two basic configurations for this project. The first configuration was a separate catalyst housing and muffler. The second configuration was a combined catalyst housing and muffler in one unit. All the catalyst elements were arranged in the DCL QUICK-LID®, which allows the catalyst elements to be easily removed for servicing.

Catalytic Industrial Muffler for Gas Compressor
- Gas compressor stations, Compressor packages running with Waukesha natural gas fuel, rich burn engines.
- Universal Compression required meeting very stringent air quality standards for NOx, CO
and volatile organic compounds.
- Solution:
Three catalytic silencers, meeting both stringent standards for air quality and noise. The units are operating problem free with over 20000 hours of operation.

Oxidation Catalysts for Co-Generation Plant

- Co-Generation Plant with three lean burn, natural gas engines, each 3030 kW electrical. Thermal power is utilized both from exhaust gas and cooling water for plastic film production.
- Required to meet emission standard of 400 mg/Nm3 @ 5% O2 for carbon monoxide and 150 mg/Nm3 @ 5% O2 non-methane hydrocarbons.

- Solution:
Three reactor housings containing catalyst elements with dimensions 556 x 581 x 92 mm, capable of being individually loaded by hand. The units operated for over five years before the replacement of catalyst elements was necessary.

Diesel Particulate Filters for Gensets
 
- Various portable diesel powered gensets are used for powering construction equipment in a subway expansion project.
- The diesel particulate filters were required to meet local standards for particulate reduction. The units were expected to operate maintenance free despite the low exhaust temperature and duty cycle of the portable gensets.
- Solution:
Several diesel particulate filters for portable genset applications which all are operating successfully, achieving passive regeneration without the need for regular maintenance. In addition to a particulate reduction of over 90%, the noise level was equivalent to that of the original muffler.
