From modest beginnings as a small Woodward governor repair shop, GCS has been Woodward authorized since 1996. We continue to meet and exceed the stringent criteria required by Woodward for authorized distribution and service centers. 

In 2002, a 40,000 sq. ft. building in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
became the home base of our growing network. GCS acquired our Gulf Coast location in October 2007 and opened the Mid-Atlantic Woodward Authorized Service / Repair facility in November 2011.

As part of our commitment to customer support, our product mix includes offerings from industry-leading manufacturers: DCL, TDI, Basler, Schaller, Dynalco, Kral, and Spinner.

Speed/Load Sharing Controls and HMI Monitoring

GCS custom-designed a digital Woodward control system for two diesel-electric Holland America Line S-Class vessels. The ships operate five Sulzer ZA40 engines for power generation, providing 34,000 kW at full load. Nominal engine speed is 514 RPM at 60 Hz.

GCS replaced the obsolete 721 controls with Woodward 733 digital controls, adding extra features that previously were not available: custom application software that integrates the engine speed control, load sharing and load control via a redundant CAN communication network. The 733 features an adaptive start-fuel limiter to reduce the amount of smoke during engine start - an important feature for cruise vessels that sail in Alaska and other areas where fines may be imposed due to excessive smoke at start-up.

For easy remote monitoring and trouble-shooting, GCS designed a HMI/SCADA system consisting of a 17” color touch-screen terminal in the ECR. This HMI communicates to all five 733 controls and is used to display all relevant data, trending, alarming and event logging.  Project details

Last Time Buy for DSLC/MSLC is February 29, 2012. Woodward is ceasing production of DSLC and MSLC power management controls. Unlimited orders for spares and repairs will be accepted until February 29, 2012. 
Repairs will continue to be available until March 2014 and, on a limited basis, until 2020.

The new DSLC-2/MSLC-2 Synchronizer and Load Controls are designed for simple and complex generator system applications and provide multiple unit, segment, utility, and inter tie-breaker controls. New product specifications here
