Woodward 5009 Fault-Tolerant Control
The 5009 fault-tolerant control is designed to provide highly reliable control on critical steam turbine applications. It can be configured to control condensing, back pressure, and single automatic extraction/ admission turbines. The 5009 control features fully triple redundant CPU and I/O (TMR) to meet the reliability needs of the industrial turbine control market. The 5009 is field programmable and uses Windows™ menu-driven software to guide site engineers on configuring the control to a specific generator or mechanical drive application.
The 5009 can be configured to operate as a standalone unit or in conjunction with a plant’s Distributed Control System.

Woodward 5009LST Fault-Tolerant Control
The 5009LST fault-tolerant control is designed to control large powergeneration steam turbines with up to 16 modulating valves. Non-modulating valves are also positioned and monitored by the control system.
This control is compatible with several turbine applications including tandem compound, cross compound and turbines with or without steam reheat driving utilityparalleled generators.
The 5009LST control scalability makes it is possible to control steam turbines with proportional or integrating actuators/servos. Proportional valve drivers are located in the chassis and external integrating drivers are connected via a redundant communication link.
A laptop computer can be connected to the control’s RS-232 communications port and used to configure and service the 5009LST. These configuration and dynamic settings are set, changed, tuned, and saved using Woodward’s userfriendly Watch Window software program.
This Windows® based PC program allows
users to set and adjust all applicationbased parameters, plus upload and download configurations to and from the control.
The 5009LST can be operated as a stand-alone unit or in conjunction with a plant’s Distributed Control System.
